We drove into Michigan today and set up camp in Lake Gogebic State Park, MI. The roads up north tend to be a lot bumpier making it hard to work on with detailed information, but I have been pushing on. I am so grateful to be able to continue to work on the road, but it does add stress to the trip. Sometimes I wish we were moving slower staying at each place longer, but there is so much to see in s Read on...
Colleen and Paul are staying at Fort Klamath. The campground at Crater Lake National Park, Mazama Campground, hasnt opened yet for the season. Unfortunately, that means the drive to see them (or their drive to see us) is a little over half an hour. Fortunately, they are staying at an adorable resort (Crater Lake Resort) with a lot of activities for families. It seemed like a great place to spend p Read on...
We headed for Corella Dam, around sixty kilometres from Cloncurry, for our first Free Camp of our trip. On the way I wanted to stop off at the Burke and Wills Monument, to pay my respects to these heroes from early Australian exploration. To my dismay, the monument had been vandalised and spraypainted with the words, Always Was, Always Will Be, which is clearly a reference to aboriginals disposses Read on...

Before sunrise, we found ourselves again climbing into open air vehicles for our day of game drives in Kruger National Park. Again facing very cold temperatures, these vehicles were equipped with nice blankets that I wrapped around myself a la Indian style. It never occurred to me to bring a heavier coat other than a windbreaker, which was not enough in the midst of a cold front.

We spent a week at Mana Island, in the Mamanuca Group, off Viti Levus east coast. It was all fairly rustic and laid back, and we spent most of the week just lazing around, either on the beach or by the pool. The Kids Club did an excellent job of entertaining our offspring, giving Issy and me some much needed us time. There were excellent beaches on both sides of the island, so if we found ourselve Read on...
