St Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. While I have been here a few times already, at the beginning of this year I finally got the chance to explore beyond the port area and learned a bit more about the customs and culture of the island. I signed up for a tour to that gave us the opportunity to try ourselves in the art of chocolate making. From the port in Castries it was Read on...
The town name Hjo is pronounced the same way as the word you. Therefore they have I love Hjo as a slogan for the town.
In early March we took our trusty car and drove down to Vstergtland District for a weekend. Ake grew up in this part of Sweden, so weve been here many times and know it fairly well.
We might one day dedicate an entire blog entry to the sites in and around the village where Ake g Read on...
I woke up about 4.30am local time (8.30am Melbourne), but managed to go back to sleep until 6.30am. Figured that wasnt too bad for trying to get the body clock aligned with local time?
Fortunately Bernie noticed this morning that Telstra had charged my phone with a $10.00 day pass. Oh no, we dont want that to be happening at all. We have purchased so that we dont need to be paying $$ for interna Read on...
Depending on what you want to do in Buffalo, it can take anywhere from a day to a week to see everything. I found some great architectural sights, amazing food, and opportunities to relax and watch the world go by during my 3 days in town. My main purpose this time was to see my beloved Toronto Blue Jays play an entire weekend series at their home away from home, Sahlen Field. But as a lover of tr Read on...
There are two Ghost Towns located about 20 miles from Stanley. Bonanza City was the first gold mining town to raise up of the two in 1877 and by 1881 it had a population of 600. Fires in 1889 and 1897 gutted much of the town and most of them moved to Custer City which was only about 2 miles away. I was intrigued by Bonanza because my favorite TV show as a young girl was Bonanza. Now the ghost town Read on...

It was a cold and windy day. We didnt push too hard today because I have been feeling overwhelmed with work and travel balance. We skipped some waterfalls and the sculpture park, we opted to go to Presque Isle. We were fortunate enough to see a deer in the early afternoon. We checked out the beach, the small breakwater light, and Black Rocks. Black rocks was amazing the water was bright blue in so Read on...
Isle of Man is a little island ( population of 86,000) in the Irish sea between Ireland and Great Britain. Indeed, fought over by the Vikings, English and Scottish for control, this three legged symbol wherever you throw it, it will stand- the land of the Manx people. I imagined seal puppies and puffins (thanks to my aspiring zoologist nephew). If lucky, a couple of porpoises.

It seems a bit unusual to be travelling on your birthday as it is normally time to sit back, kick your shoes off and be waited on rather than being the chief pilot of the rented Toyota Corolla with a few hundred kilometres of highway and scenery ahead.
One fortunate feature of being independent travellers is that you can choose the time to get up, have breakfast and get on the road rather than be Read on...
