Its finally filling like a sisters cruise, drinking free wine in the room and writing the blog and laughing our heads off.
We awake to cruising into Finland, no, THIS IS NOT HELSINKI!!!. Originally, we were supposed to go to Helsinki, Tallin and St Petersburgh. Blasted Russians, so instead we are in Mariehamn Finland. This is a cute little, but boring island. It is a vacation spot for Northern Eu Read on...
Woke up in Hoodsport pretty early, as we got to bed early last evening. The RV Park, Glen Ayr, was pretty nice. Had full hookups and decent WIFI. Its located right on the Hood Canal, and has access to a marina. After a nice breakfast, we departed for Quinault, WA via the Olympic National Park. This trip allows us to visit three National Parks that weve not before seen: Mt. Ranier NP, Olympic NP, a Read on...
My social life was zero because of the pandemic restrictions. Being fed up, I decided to visit familiar Swindon. In a flash, I realised a school friend lived another mins train ride from Swindon. A tight trip to capture three locations at one go. I had booked the fastest train so I spent minimum time in the train itself to a max 45 mins. The trains and stations were pretty empty.
With train tick Read on...
Our spring trip this year was a cruise on the Carnival Sunshine to the Southern Caribbean, visiting Curaao, Aruba and Grand Turk. I had not visited the ABC islands before or the Turks & Caicos, so this was all new territory! We arrived in Cape Canaveral , Florida, the day before our cruise was to sail. As is our usual custom, we drove from Springfield, Virginia, over two days, spending a night at Read on...
I actually slept until nine this morning. Not straight through but I kept falling back to sleep. Its been about eight a.m. most days that I didnt intentionally get up early to move on to the next destination. Yoghurt with raspberries and nuts and then a bacon sandwich chaser got the day going. I finally remembered to put the one gallon gas can in my saddlebag just in case. I also carry a five gall Read on...
geographically worked out to be a good stopping point for us as we need to get to Aberdeen, Scotland in a few days to fulfill an obligation we made through Trusted Housesitters to take care of a couple of cats for a lovely couple while they travel.
When traveling and everything goes smoothly as it has been, guess there always has to be a July 17th type of day! We booked the train to Newcastle an Read on...
I started planning this trip to find Linda and my Scottish ancestors in October 2019, but due to the Covid pandemic the trip had to be postponed from June 2020 to June 2021 to August 2021 to August 2022. Many changes were made to my original planning blog as I found out more about our Scottish ancestors. Consequently, I cancelled that planning blog and am now publishing what I hope is the final ve Read on...

North of Barsola on TX Hwy 1911 I saw a sign for the Arnold Cemetery and I drove a short distance from the road to the cemetery. The Cemetery sign said that the cemetery was established in 1872. I walked through the cemetery and found most of the markers to be in the Arnold family. I suspect that the old unreadable sandstone markers were from the late 1800s. The Arnold Cemetery appears to be well Read on...
It was a late rise the morning after the rush trip back from Africa but the sleep was really needed. Back at the flat at Hammersmith again, we had a really civilised breakfast of porridge, followed by bacon and eggs. I rang Ruth and made arrangements for Joan and I to drop up to Hatfield in the afternoon to catch up with them again before I flew home. We reached Hatfield by and just relaxed and c Read on...
