Another really early start this morning. What a sunrise over Monument Valley. It was so worth getting up early for.
We were on the road by 7am heading for the Grand Canyon. There wasnt a lot going on in the bus and not a lot to see, so most of us just dozed until we got there.
The weather report said that there may be a storm in the afternoon. When we got there just before 10am, it was a little Read on...
I honestly would like to go back to Dali and have a longer opportunity to look around. Our day started with an opportunity to photograph the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple. This was done at a distance, time did not allow us to visit the temple. Some vendors were selling objects and nick nacks primarily made from the local stone. The patterns within the stone were fascinating.
We then proceede Read on...
On Wednesday morning I checked out of the hotel and had a couple of tasks to take care of before I left Coober Pedy. I needed fuel first, and then I had to visit the most useful vending machine in the outback. This may exist elsewhere, but its the only one I know of – a water station. For just $1.00 you can get 30 litres of water. One of my jerry cans was nearly empty so I wanted to fill it up. Read on...
Snow fall on the distant Pamirs greets me this morning, very scenic. A solo breakfast in the little kitchen room while the Dutch guys are having their breakfast in the lounge. My bf is huge(!) and consists of tea, coffee, butter, yoghurt, cream, 3 fried eggs, bread and jams- so delicious- I wonder what the Dutch are having, maybe something different to me? I seem to be getting amazing attention. I Read on...
We got up and left the albergue just after 6am, because of the steep climb to O Cebreiro. At about 7:30, after climbing pretty steeply, we entered the first town of La Faba. We were looking forward to a coffee break, since it was too early for anything to be open in Las Herreiras, but the only bar in town was closed. This seemed to happen a lot. Im not sure if we are leaving too early, or they jus Read on...

Also die gerade gebu Read on...

We enjoyed two sea days en route to Bermuda. the Atlantic was amazingly smooth. Hurricane Earl had blown the weather away and left calm seas. Norwegian Dawn was navigating the Sargasao Sea. This part of the middle of the Atlantic ocean is so named because of the prevalence of the brown sarga Read on...
It was a bright sunny day and a new destination was on the horizon. After breakfast we took the metro to the airport and rented a car for the remainder of the trip. Oslo was our destination and we had all the time in the world to get there before sunset, after all it was the land of the midnight sun! Driving wasnt an issue as it was a left hand drive system and google maps our friend! Highway E20 Read on...
As I first began my research for visiting Santorini, one feature sang out to me. It was the fabulous wines of Santorini. Most of us drank some cheap retsina in college. And I had the benefit of learning about Mavrodaphne from my friends at Lola in Seattle. In fact, I have a few bottles of Mavro here at home. But I am learning that Santorini is perhaps one of the best wine growing regions in Greece Read on...
