Yesterday was an incredibly full and wonderful day. We enjoyed our breakfast and tjen headed out for the lovely day by 8 am to drive over to view the Grand Tetons in the morning. We drove north of Jackson to Mormon Row where some of the early settlers lived in the wide valley to the east of the mountain range. We had to take photos of the iconic barn with the peaks behind. AND Megan won the first Read on...
The end of three relaxing and summery days in Dalyan. Well, they were relaxing for all but one of us - Im so amused by Beebs interpretation of her forced bathroom incarceration that I cant let it pass. She got stuck in a bathroom at a restaurantit was very traumatic, pliers were involved in the rescue, there were tears etc etc, but every time she brings it up (which is a LOT, even more than the vo Read on...
Who says the Wrexham has no culture ? Well a lot of the townsfolk who really dont understand the City of Culture 2025 bid or dont see culture anywhere . We have a lot of spare time on a Saturday before we go to the football match . We need to get parked up early otherwise we struggle to find somewhere close to the ground to park . Going early means a lot of time on our hands to kill . Over the las Read on...
Entering Farina this trip was so different to last time. Last time it was a buzzing place with people everywhere, The Underground Bakery was operating and the volunteer rebuilding program was in full swing for its annual winter program. It was hard to find a park in the main street and the campground was overflowing. All the premium sites were taken so many like us camped amongst the bushes.

Heading south towards Milford Haven our first stop was only a short distance from Rocket House near Poppit Sands where we had spent a glorious week. Llandudoch in Welsh or Saint Dogmaels (our first Saint), an unusual name and a fascinating place particularly for the history enthusiast. This small parish had a peaceful setting next to the River Teifi, a mile downstream from the town of Cardigan. No Read on...
Next stop was Boracay, which I see now regularly tops Worlds Best Islands lists in a lot of the worlds best known travel magazines. I wanted to include it on the itinerary for our Philippines honeymoon back in 1989, but was dissuaded by our travel agent. It was virtually unknown in those days; I think only backpackers went there. I was told that the trip there would have involved a two hour drive Read on...
Oli sateinen piv. Keridin kraaterille psy maksoi 400 kruunua eli noin 3 €. Silloin ei satanut onneksi paljon. Kiersimme kraaterin. Minuakaan ei houkuttanut menn kraaterin pohjalle lammen rannalle. Seuraavaksi ajettiin Thingvelliriin. Navigoin meidt pyskintialueelle P5, koska siell oli lhell turistikeskus ja vessat. Matkakumppaneille riitti lyhyt kvely. Ehdotuksestani ajettiin viel takaisin laaks Read on...
Our departure from Starigrad was in the rain, but since we were driving, that was ok. In dramatic swoops we rose through the mountainous hills of the coast into steep rocky landscape. A fast toll road took us through a 12 km tunnel into a higher, lusher plateau dotted with bushes. Further on, in a long valley, cows were grazing. Substantial farm houses and loosely formed villages showed that agric Read on...
Mauii is one of the most beautiful places I have visited so far. We stayed at the Banana Bungalow Hostel for 5 days. One of the perks staying here was that they offered free tours with different activities.
One of the days we joined a tour that was supposed to take us up the Haleakala, one of the biggest crater volcanos, that is now dormant. The plan was to hike through the crater, which would ha Read on...
We got up early this morning, especially early since my (Susan) breakfast was delivered 45 minutes early and I was still in bed. We left to visit Schwerin Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. It took about 1.5 hours on the bus to get there, but we considered ourselves lucky. Those who were going to spend the day in Berlin had to leave at the crack of dawn and were on a train 3.5 ho Read on...
