Thursday - another one of those days which found me wondering how I managed to work and get ready to go on holiday. Over two years ago I would have found myself sitting at work with my mind divided between work and thinking what had I got to do to get away for my holiday . Life had changed . A blood test result sought out . A mixed message from the receptionist . What was wrong with saying one res Read on...
So we decided to head up the highway to Cape Cod. We were going to aim for Provincetown as it was up the Cape quite a way, but then decided on Hyannis instead since it was just under an hour of travel for us. Good decision.
We arrived in town, and we were following the directions when the GPS hiccupped and I continued going straight instead of making a right turn. We ended up at Keyes Memorial Be Read on...
Khao Sok National Park was the reason we visited South West Thailand on this trip. It did not disappoint, although the weather could have been kinder!
We decided on a private transfer from Patong to the town of Khlong Sok which took a little over two hours whereas a minubus would have taken four. Money well spent in our eyes. Then we found ourselves in a beautiful riverside room at Khao Sok Rive Read on...
Except for the fact that a neighborhood dog woke us up frequently and we were unable to sleep after 5:30, this was an bed with very soft sheets. and we woke up refreshed, just not long enough. Oh well.
David was happy to do some birding in the am, and said buenos dias a few times to a man who was bicycling. The man eventually stopped and chatted – I could hear from a distance and was so very pr Read on...
We dont need an alarm clock to wake us up today. The neighbours dog starts yapping at 6am and pretty much doesnt stop. Hmmm, I thought we came on holiday to get away from peoples noisy pets?
We would like to make a reasonably early start because our next hotel has limited parking options and wed like to nab a parking spot nearby if possible.
We go down for breakfast and our host greets us. What Read on...
This afternoon I took the bus to Akrotiri to see the archeological site of town that was destroyed by volcanic explosion nearly 4,000 years ago, but survived enough to be dug up now. I took photos of the landscape so you can see the height of the ash and pyroclastic fallout from that explosion. Lucky for us, there was a water way that, over time, eroded and exposed this town.

I have been to some of the most beautiful metro stations in the world. Europe definitely has the best, followed by Asia. The US is a distant LAST!
A transfer point between Athens Metro lines 1 and 2, Syntagma is not your average station. Considering the citys illustrious history, it maybe as a surprise that the station is part museum. Located beneath the Syntagma Square, there are many antiquitie Read on...
Today we have a very long drive. We can see where we are headed but theres quite a bit of water between us and it! There is a car ferry - very expensive and as it turns out I cant get tickets anywaynot because there is no space but because they need three days notice!

Sometimes I wish there were other species of hummingbirds that I saw as often as the Sparkling Violetear. However, seeing this one every day at home and every time I go for a hike, Ive definitely had the time to get some really amazing shots.
What exactly do I think will happen? With the State of Emergency extended into September and the hope of a vaccine still in the distant future, what can I e Read on...
The recent United flight from Denver per CNN: The pilots issued a mayday call and, after turning back to the airport, landed the Boeing plane safely. Remarkably, there were no reports of injuries either in the air or on the ground. Still, interviews with passengers show the incident provided a huge scare for everyone involved. This has never happened to me, fortunately. But I have experienced seve Read on...
