Wow, it has been a long time since I traveled for pleasure. After the amazing trip to Australia, I put travel on hold so I could search for a new job in a new city and new state. (yeah, I have wanderlust in my everyday life too.) 2019s vacation was replaced with quick trips to interview, impress and finally land the job I wanted. Happily, I moved into my new city in the Seattle area. Sadly, it was Read on...
I woke up to the sound of rain teeming down. My umbrella is in the car was my first thought- the car which was already shipped over to La Ceiba. Fortunately by the time I got up and had breakfast, the rain was already done. I sent a quick message to Sylvia and Cherry, making sure they were both up, then finished getting myself ready to go. I got Auri up to say a goodbye, then got a message from Ch Read on...
After morning heart starter number three at a Cafe in the Square, we set off for the village market in and arrived just in time to witness the butchers van make his last sale for the day before packing up and moving on. The car park he was located in wouldnt have supported many stall holders anyway, so we dont think we missed much. They must have packed up early due to low sales; this village is Read on...
Prachtige camperplaats, ruim, alles automatisch. Enkel een kredietkaart nodig. Wel gratis traag internet. Buiten alle verwachting om, nog plaats zat. We zitten tenslotte in volle hoogseizoen. Coronaeffect waarschijnlijk. Terrassen in de omgeving blijven meestal ook leeg. Wel wandelaars en fietsers. Gisteren donderdag, prachtig weer. We namen een rustdag, niksen en lazen ons dik boek in de schadu Read on...
Following our air trip over the Bungle Bungles, it was time to hike into this unusual formation of rocks for a couple of kilometres; initially to Cathedral Gorge which is a natural amphitheatre. It is a huge cavern with incredible acoustics. A couple of concerts have in fact been performed here. The variation in colouring and texturing of the walls in the gorge is stunning. Our final stop was a hi Read on...
Monday - Bank Holiday and everywhere closed down for the day apart from the odd supermarket . Shopping done early this week as I dont want the fridge and freezer full of food which will /might go to waste. That bit where I would have been work Read on...
We started out today with a tour of Miltenberg. It had classic German village architecture. Unlike many of the other ancient towns weve visited where high end chain stores have taken over, this place seemed to be popular with Germans, had local crafts and art and was a refreshing change. Later in the day, we visited a local farm. Totally fascinating. The owners (a very handsome couple in their la Read on...
A tremendous thunderstorm overnight with all the elements going at once has partially cleared the overcast sky but it still wasnt brilliantly fine as we surfaced for the day. Still at least that rain during the night and not while we would have been hoping to take in more sights around Takaka during the daylight. We planned a casual day with a short amount of driving locally and then finish the d Read on...
Well another day in paradise (Phil Collins eat your heart out). It has been a quiet day today mainly by the beach. However, we did venture out for brunch which was a really nice meal. We also managed to change our PCR test to over the road instead of being over 30 miles away slo that was a win win for us to be honest. When we got back to the room Sue and our key card did not work to get into the Read on...
