The first minister of Wales had pronounced a whole raft of instructions and guidance on how to spend Christmas and New Year safely. In of a few people . Not allowed to watch football. Not going out to celebrate New Year . Nightclubs closed . . But across the border just a stones throw away Boris had allowed everyone a free rein to enjoy themselves . We could have listened to the first minister and Read on...
Every day, for the past few weeks, I have been posting a saucy old seaside postcard on my Facebook page. Back in the late 1950s and early 60s, I used to see such postcards when we went for family holidays to Hayling Island. What do we mean by saucy seaside postcards? The term was coined for cards featuring images of often scantily clad, females and doubles entendres full of sexual innuendo.

Think back to your childhood. What sort of toys did you play with? What sort of games did you play? Today was one of those days where we were taken back to childhood games with a vengence. Hopscotch - a bit of pavement and some chalk to mark out the squares and a pebble to throw . Bat and Ball. A ball thrown constantly at a wall much to my parents frustration who got fed up of the thud thud of the Read on...

We said goodbye to Sabah and Borneo and flew back to KL - our Intrepid leader Felix arranged a taxi for us back to the airport (it was the same guy who took us to the Proboscis monkeys the day before!) Smooth flight back, we arrived at KLIA 2 (Air Asia terminal but much better than terminal 1) and picked up our bus tickets to Malacca. Its still not clear to me why the English spelling is more freq Read on...

Goodbye Clovelly. Our brief but eventful time there is now behind us. With misplaced luggage, an incorrect room, no hot water, no yogurt and no bananas it sounds disastrous but really it was pretty good. Immediately upon finishing my cereal I was informed some yogurt down on the supply sled but The hotel sound more like Fawlty Towers than the New Inn however it was OK.
Up and out of Clovelly then Read on...
Has it really been about five years since I trudged up to Memorial Stadium in Berkeley for a Cal football game? Have I given up the notion that my Golden Bears will play in the Rose Bowl on January 1st one of these years, while I am still alive? We have not been to the Rose Bowl since January 1, 1959. We played the heavily favored Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big 10 and lost 38 to 12. But we were the 16th Read on...
We were up early due to a lousy nights sleep, attributed to the van being parked on an angle on the side of the road – lesson learnt! We made the last few kilometres to the border by 9am, where we had a relatively hassle free crossing, although it took some time to persuade them to change zlotys back to US dollars. We were away again before 11am in bright sunshine, and we weaved our way through Read on...
