Between Boulia and Mt Isa there is 300km of single lane road, with very few overtaking opportunities. Travelling at speed it took about 4 ½ hrs stopping for a lunch break at the very small town ofDajarra – in fact, it is the only town in between and located roughly half way in the trip.
The road was sealed all the way with wide gravel edges which were soft, but good enough to pull two wheels o Read on...
Our third day in South Africa, we took an early flight to Durban, where we met our guide for the area and the vehicle to transfer us to the St. Lucia Estuary for a game viewing cruise, before continuing to Hluhluwe for the night.
The drive from Durban to St. Lucia was approximately three hours, so Im not sure whether the flight to the Durban airport was because its the only available major airpor Read on...
I need to stop visiting surf towns since I dont surf. They rarely equate to nice beaches and I was a bit disappointed to find a black sand beach at San Carlos. Id ventured onto the beach fairly far before I realized the sand was burning my feet. I did a sprint back to the dirt road, looking around afterwards to see if anyone was watching this ridiculous scene.
The next morning I went for a walk Read on...
I, Susan, woke up this morning to the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen. The pictures dont do it justice. Not long thereafter, I was able to snap a picture of a Polish lighthouse with the light on. Then we passed the WWII memorial, this is where WWII started when Germany invaded Poland. Of course, Claire called me and said, did you see the monument?. Well of course I did, what a great mornin Read on...
Our last day. Due to covid we had to be out of the cottage earlier than usual but that was ok. We packed up & headed to the south Peaks for a stoll along Dovedale (last visit when I was a child). This is a lovely, easy stoll along the river - it would usually be easier but the high water levels had flooded some of the path & the stepping stones impassable!
We strolled along to Reynards Cave and I Read on...

This morning the plan was to purchase three day tourist passes to use Singapores public transport system (Mass Rapid Transpo Read on...

Another decent morning with sunshine but cool heading into the breeze. Todays loop was through Waddington, Bashall Barn, Cowark, Middle Lees, Leagram, Chipping and home via Chaigley and the Pigeries.
Our virtual journey would be leaving Baix and again heading south along the banks of the Rhone to Pierrelatte. Pierrelatte seems to have two claims to fame:
Firstly, since the 1980s it hosts one of Read on...
Our last day in Brasil Chugging across Brasil and a quick return to Blighty (where therell be no laundering of the packs). found us in our most favoured of habitats, a locals boozer. Here the indulgent management blessed their rare gringo visitors with a – lengthy - Celine Dion medley on the jukebox. We were touched and not too traumatised, but still thought this weird. Fast forward eight months Read on...
