I up from Southern Cherokee County, Texas and turned West on US Hwy 84 and turned North on FM Hwy 347 to the old downtown Dialville. What I noticed for the first time was the Masonic I drove West for six miles on FM Hwy 1910. At the junction of FM Hwy 2138 was the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church & Cemetery.
The Union Grove area was settled just before the US Civil War. In 1887 they organiz Read on...
A slightly restless night with rain & wind, made for a restless morning too. The rain had stopped but the wind was still strong & cold, so we packed up quick and actually got walking by 8.
Off to a speedy start (for us) the wind then dropped as we descended down to a river, and we found a sunny spot to pull over for breaky and to warm up. Which we quickly did with the climb back out of the valley Read on...
From Jasper we took a side trip by train to Prince Rupert, British Columbia on the Pacific Coast. What was different about this leg of our train trip was that it was out and back - 2 days to Prince Rupert, and 2 days return to Jasper. Also different was the fact that the train had no sleeping cars, and so stopped overnight about half way in Prince George, where we had to find our own With not a gr Read on...
After I took a last swim in Skagit Bay, we finished loading the Tesla, and started off on our EV road trip! (My plan is to swim every day on this trip....)
The trip to Portland was uneventful. Its a generally boring drive, with often bad traffic, but this time at least the traffic wasnt too bad. This part of the trip gave us a chance to figure out more about the navigation system, and we were abl Read on...
After getting a good response from my emails about lakes and mountains, I thought I would try rivers next. So, after the mighty Mississippi, and the amazing Amazon, what might be some of the others. I have yet to see the Nile, the longest in the world, though it is looking less likely as the years go by. Here you go: Mississippi River I went on a sunset dinner cruise with I worked for back in the Read on...
Our flight landed early in the morning and within two hours we were seeing the amazing African wildlife! So, there were about 14 of us on this weekend to Kenya. I knew a few from other trips, but the rest I had never met before. We landed and got through customs .... well, not so quickly. But we got outside to meet our guides. Instead of the planned breakfast we had expected, they said we would b Read on...
Immediately, following our BDR Route, we were on a gravel track through a forest with very dark trails. The weather was seriously gloomy and with overhanging trees it was like night time. Our GPSs didnt adapt so the glare from them really affected our vision. I changed my GPS to 50%!b(MISSING)acklight which solved the problem. After quite a few miles on this dark trail we came to a road closed sig Read on...
Up at 5:30 and out the door with my my Todd Edwards. Michelle runs every morning (I am so proud of her). It was eerily foggy this morning, but that didnt deter us. As we climbed up to the edge of a ridge, we saw deer in between the trees, including an albino deer that frequents the hills here in Braddock Heights! I got my camera out too late, but will be keeping my eyes open and camera ready for Read on...

Najłatwiej dostępna jest c Read on...
Have you heard of orange wine for Halloween? White wines are generally pressed off of their skins shortly after entering the winery— not the case with an orange wine. An orange/amber color is produced when white grape varieties ferment with their skins. In addition to an color, the extended exposure to skins gives this style of white wine more tannin and a slight note of bitterness. Orange wine Read on...
