Ok, after a great trip in Morocco we arrived to a cold Madrid, which put a damper on our intended section of the camino. Cold and rainy did not sound like alot of fun. So, instead we headed south to Seville looking for warmer weather and sun. We also knew Easter week would be starting on Apr 10th and had heard it was quite the event. And it was !!! It occurs most days and/or nights with elaborate Read on...
On 12th April myself and a friend set off to walk the Lake District section of the Coast to Coast Path. For six days we set off each morning, navigated our way along the path and as evening approached pitched our tents for the night. We covered about 70 miles and were very lucky with the weather, dull at times but only one short period of rain. After a relatively gentle first day, the second day Read on...
The weather was a bit sketchy today so we shifted plans and went to The British Museum to see all of the plundered treasures collected from around the world. The Egyptian artifacts and the remains of the Parthenon were particularly interesting to see. Don wasnt as impressed by this museum as The Louvre as it was more artifacts of life than art. We are ready for the Trivial Pursuit category of anci Read on...
As you probably know, I had been working from home since March 22nd, and only left the city of Dubai 5 times during that time period. No family, limited social interactions, stuck in a room for months on end.... I needed something. My usual travel group was putting on a trip to Namibia during the long weekend break in the UAE - celebrating Commemoration Day and National Day, we had a 5 day weekend Read on...
When we woke up today we found there was finally no road workers in place out the front of the hotel and I was pleased Kerry had a great nights sleep. This hotel has been a great place to stay in Burlington, but today it is time to move on and we are traversing Route 100 south along the Mad River Valley which is a famous Vermont Scenic Byway, and yes the Mad River is the correct name ! First stop Read on...
Water clocks were used to mark a limited time interval. They above all marked the time of studying and of teaching, and were used by sailors to calculate the speed of a ship and by priests to limit the length of homilies. Well I have to say, an enormous water clock would have been an ideal ornament for the church wall where I used to go to church as a child because I dont remember any priest ever Read on...
A coolish morning ( relatively speaking) . The staff have jumpers on. We had breakfast, paid our drinks tab and then watched Gary put out feed for the birds. 4 Brolgas came in, a whistling kite and a kingfisher. We said our goodbyes and set off. Our first stop was Musgrave. the site of an Old Telegraph Station. The only one that has been preserved. Gravel road to Coen - good condition as it had Read on...
Gabby the motorhome is parked up on the drive . She is not going anywhere today. We go inside her now and again and she feels deserted and unloved. Everything about her feels cold now that Autumn is about us . The bedding feels chilly and the a quick glance at the solar panel control shows the leisure battery is at 99% and the engine battery 12.7. Despite the heavy rain over the last few days she Read on...

The walk from Boscobel House to the White Ladies Priory was sign posted as one mile away . We had a choice . Trust the sign . They are sometimes under egged and the walk turns out much further . That was coupled with the heat , a pair of new shoes being broken in and the horse flies which had a taste by this time for my blood . Like vampires they swooped . In the end we decided to drive down what Read on...
