Google maps has been invaluable at helping us find our way between destinations and also providing some ‘enrichment in the routes chosen. Todays adventure started off well with another delicious breakfast in the courtyard, but things went somewhat downhill from there. First descent was when child #1 noticed in an absolute panic that she had left her favourite toy in the bed at the hotel, precis Read on...
Today we continued around the ‘toe of the Yorke Peninsula and then started up the west coast. Our first stop was at Point Annie where we drove straight down towards what we thought was the viewpoint rather than taking the left turn and then driving around to the official parking area. We managed it OK in the but Cathy and Steve decided against it in their Subaru. They probably wouldnt have had Read on...

The thought of backwater cruise, wildlife at national parks and carpet like tea plantation lured me to visit Kerala. Back in March 2018, I, my sister Nyta and my friend Kiko left Jakarta with Malaysian Airlines, transiting in Kuala Lumpur and arrived in the evening. Our driver, Jotish picked us up and took us to Cochin Marriott. On the first day of our visit, we had a city tour, visiting Fort Koc Read on...
Packed up the motorhome and manoevred it round so we could attach the trailer onto the back and then load the Smart Car on that. Slowest part is attaching the straps round each wheel but now we have good set of straps again we did that with more confidence. Another gorgeous day when we woke and the forecast is for pretty amazingly hot for at least the next week. We did pass under a rain cloud a f Read on...
If there is a Heaven on Earth, it is in Kashmir. I realised the proverb the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek. When I was young, my dream was to be a wanderlust and travelling to Himalayas. Like many Bengalis I was influenced by the epic travelogue written by Parimal Dey and Umaprasad, the legendary of Bengal. But now I am 60 plus and around six months back, when our family friend Mr Basu offered for p Read on...
Our day started with a visit to the Spanish Lagoon to visit the burrowing owl – both of them this time! We noticed that one of them at least has been banded. David also got much better photos of the Ruby Topaz humming bird, but still not up to his usual snuff, so no doubt well be back again! There were MANY of these humming birds in the bushy walking area there, whizzing by in 2s and 4s. Make s Read on...
We continued to reach one of my highlight: Forillon National park. Its a peninsula at the end of the Gaspesian peninsula. A mix of ocean, forest, cold streams and beautiful landscapes. The most beautiful spot in the park is for me, the Cape. Its dramatic because of its topography and at the same time beautiful for its blue and green ocean waters. The park has a wide range of hiking trails rangin Read on...
