Ok total change of plans today - its the last sunny day before (apparently) a week of rain, so I wanted to make sure I got up to Loen today, even if it meant extra back on my tracks. About half the drive was normal highway, half was the narrow roads - Im getting used to them at least..!
I went through this nice valley with super green waters and tiny waterfalls galore. Not many spots to stop, but Read on...
Couldnt sleep again last night . It was 25 degrees at 11 pm . In a house I probably would have opened the windows . In a bungalow not a good idea . I even thought of going out and sleeping in Gabby . It might have been cooler in her with her skylights open. Sion did not sleep well either - the mention of Ashover Rock last night set him off . The last things anyone should do is mention a plan to a Read on...
Walking has a bit of a bore. It was fine when I started walking around our Derbyshire village home as it was a novelty. I remember enjoying walking as a change to swimming . Investigating the village I had lived in and never entirely walked around . Cul de sacs, long lanes, the ponds, the lakes and the countryside . There were places I had never ventured down and I remember apart from my aching fe Read on...
After our one night of executive, art deco luxury in the Midland Hotel in Morecambe, it was time to head further north. I reflect on the Morecambe visit with a bit of sadness. The majority of people I speak to look somewhat puzzled by the choice of destination. What the town has to offer is lost on most and there is a definite refusal to give it chance to bounce back. Bill Bryson said as such in o Read on...
cheese and biscuits came in handy on the ferry from Algeciras to Ceuta. We were expected to buy lunch, but I didnt want to go down into the hole on that little bucketing ferry. I preferred the blasting wind on top, and picked my way through most of the cheese and half of the plain cookies. Later when I went down to avoid missing an opportunity, I was glad to only have twenty minutes remaining. It Read on...
Todays trip was supposed to be yesterday and then tomorrow and was now today. After not getting home until nearly midnight last night (and then still having to upload blogs), the important thing was an early start today. So 7am it was.
Off to our usual office of Gamarjoba tours (the best) booked through Get Your Guide. Todays guide has been Sally who has been great, full of excitement with intere Read on...

Very pleased with this campsite and especially our pitch as, as it gets hotter, the shade provided by a couple of big tall trees is keeping us Forecast for the next few days is to get hotter and even hotter until we probably Hopefully a storm along before that happens ?.
Decided for first time to use campsite showers rather than the excellent ones in the van mainly because there is no grey waste Read on...
As it was wet we spent the morning exploring Treak Cliff Cavern - one of the caves where they still mine Blue John stone. Due to covid they couldnt do the usual cave tours so instead we downloaded an app & were given our own starting time (at 10 min intervals from other people) to go on our own tour. It worked very well and we had a lovely time poking around in our own time.
On the way out of th Read on...
On our way to this campground Nate stopped off at a few parts stores to see what the stock was for 16 spark plugs since the closest part store to the campground was 30 minutes. Of course, none of them in the area had 16 spark plugs in stock so we ordered them. Due to the distance from the campground, we decided it would be best to change them by the auto store just in case something went wrong. Su Read on...
