Our cruise visited the islands of St Thomas, Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, Martinique, and Curaao - all new to my father and myself. These were relaxed days in Caribbean warmth, dedicated to a mild amount of site seeing. Dinners were events at the end of the day, and my father collected all the menus, which are shown as photos in this blog.
Tuesday morning our bags going to the ship were to be outsi Read on...
I suppose today is as good a time as any to write my first post about my first trip in the time of Covid. I went to the nations capital, which so many terrorists have occupied at this writing. I hadnt intended to put off writing this post so long; but since I did, a lot of it will necessarily be a reflection of my time there through the lens of whats happened since that time (especially today, Jan Read on...

Home to the theatres, the cafs and the oldest bookstore still active in the world, Chiado is the location for todays tour with Ines our guide.
The district is named after, Antnio Ribeiro, a Franciscan monk who left the order to a satirical poet and actor. Antnios distinctive style was his shrill and high voice, which gave him the nickname Screech (Chiado in Portuguese). The statue of Fernando Pes Read on...
Bohinj is located in the heart of the Julian Alps. The most extensive and highest mountain range in Slovenia & is also the most part of the Alps.
Despite the thick snow our guide stepped up close to the statue giving tribute to 4 brave men who were the first to climb Mount Triglav.

(Day 56 on the road) Its been roughly a month since I arrived in Colombia, so now seems like a good time for a first recap. And to say it upfront, it has been a pretty good month indeed! After a flight (and a 3 ½ hour wait at understaffed Colombian immigration), Medellin with its 2,5 million inhabitants was my first port of call.
And despite of what image the city has as the former base of the Read on...
After 21 years of rambles that took me across the U.S.A. and six continents, I find myself back in my childhood home where many things have changed while some stubbornly will not. This blog has gone a lot of directions although mostly travel recollections while later blogs explored the nuts and bolts of travel in Eastern Indonesia. I have been pondering bringing it back for a while as a way to sha Read on...
Weve just been home for few days, and it feels good. Home here is all about back to the kitchen, back to serious wine, back to home and golf rounds....but sadly, dives are a rarer occurrence lately due to the simple lack of divers visiting our little corner of paradise.
So here we are on a big road trip! The first step is the very long drive from home all the way to Kruger gate by Hazyview. We to Read on...
It was simply bugging the hell out of us....we would talk about it, imagine it, even attempt to make plans in the hopes that we could travel....somewhere. Weve somewhat mollified this urge by taking a few trips within the U.S., but we all know that the great thrill is to leave your own country and go visit one youve never seen before. Thats the thing, right?
Weve spent each day for months longing Read on...
First task of the day was to pack up the motorhome and change campsites to another (Shrubbery Farm). Just 2.6 miles down the road as our booking arrangements at the first site had been unexpectedly altered by the arrival of a rally which wanted the whole site including our pitch ! No bother. We were recamped by 9.30 and ready to get on with our day which was to be an outing to Southwold.
