Sunday: St Patricks day parade in downtown hollywood with a friend I met at board game night. Perfect weather- not humid and about 75*. Went up to the top of her high rise building and got a pretty good view- can even see the guitar hotel in the distance. Also witnessed some glass blowing and just overall good downtown festivities. Thursday: An evening walk on the boardwalk? yes please. However t Read on...
On Wednesday, we drove north along the Outer Banks to reach Corolla. Nearby Carova Beach is famous for the wild horses that roam the seaside dunes at will. The only way to see the horses is to drive over the beach. Vehicles that are not four wheel drive or vehicles need to let air out of their tires in order to navigate the sand. Rather than do that, we booked a tour to see the horses. We booked Read on...
We buy fresh milk for our chocolatadas because its more nutritious and also because there is no waste in packaging. Each of these milk cans holds 30 liters. Yesterday was amazing, but I am so exhausted by all of the travel. The farther out the villages are, the more they need help, so Im bracing myself for a December full of twisty mountain roads that make me carsick. Its certainly worth a little Read on...

As we had hoped when we headed for bed last night, this morning has dawned with clear skies overhead making the chances of getting reflections of the mountains in Lake Mathieson a reality. We needed to make a quick getaway for the lake about 6km away so that we made sure we were around the lake before any breeze on the water happened to spoil the hopeful reflections. There was thought of the use Read on...

After having packed our little VW Golf to the max, we drove from Wil through parts of Austria and Slovenia to Hrvatska (Croatia). We were planning to stay at least 4 to 5 weeks in Croatia, establishing our Mediterranean base camp in Vodice, a town near Sibenik, in Central Dalmatia, courtesy of Ana and Tomislav and her families. More of that later...... But first we wanted to see some places in Au Read on...
Of course, I am biased towards Berkeley. After all, I went there as both an undergrad, and for graduate school. Berkeley itself, has changed about 180 degrees since then. In 1964, the area around campus was almost Ivy League in appearance, with preppy mens stores, book stores, Frasers (an upscale home and designer store), and the usual assortment of college related businesses. Today, it is a mess. Read on...
