Actually, we wanted to sleep in a bit, but by 6:30 the birds were in full crescendo, and then a francolin sitting on our roof was very noisy. Its about the size of a partridge. Between him and the wild turkeys, no one sleeps in.
So, after our usual toasted English muffin and guava jam, we started off at the seashore just down the mountain road, near the airport. The sea didnt look too rough until Read on...

This blog is not as much about Panama City as it about my experience getting there. Sometimes travel throws up interesting situations and I thought its an experience I should share. The travel bit of Panama City will follow in Part 2.
I flew into Panama City from San Jose. On the flight I met a traveler who was going to Cuba and I asked her to keep me posted on how she finds it so that I can eval Read on...
Its now been 4 weeks since weve been away which is hard to digest and I dont fancy jumping on the scales anytime soon. Alarm was set for 8.00 am so we could have breakfast downstairs and be on the road by 9.00 am for the 60km drive to the ski resort town of Stowe.
No traffic issues encountered so it was an easy drive to the Von Trapp Family Lodge. You may find that name familiar and you would be Read on...
Again, I apologize for being late in posting this, but this KOAs internet was up most of the time, but had extremely limited bandwidth last night.

This morning we got coffee and pastries at a local bake shop downtown, then we headed to Acadia National Park. We have travelled together to many national parks but here the workers were the most unfriendly, rude people weve ever encountered. It seemed they were very put out when we asked a question or needed help. It did not start out as a good experience.
We drove through the park and got to vi Read on...

So this trip is winding down. We left on the evening of July 2, flew out of PIT to JFK on July 3, arrived in London on July 4. Now we are back in JFK awaiting our flight to PIT!! We are ready!
London Heathrow airport is a nightmare. Its very disorganized and they are way understaffed. We started there at 6:45 for an 11:30 flight. We had about 30 minutes before we boardedlines were that long. I re Read on...
This morning we plan to take a boat ride out to the island in Lake Bled, the one (I dont think there are any other islands in the lake) with the iconic Assumption of Maria Church on it. It seems that the system here involves the boatman waiting for the boat to fill up (with people) and then off we go. He says we need to pay him in cash as we get on back, otherwise he‘ll leave us there. Theres no Read on...
