Our route to Poland was by way of British Airways from Washington Dulles to Heathrow. I quite enjoyed this flight as it was aboard a 747, the type fast disappearing from the worlds airways. We changed planes (and Heathrow terminals from 5 to 3) to a British Airways flight to Warsaw. Our first view of Poland, land of my paternal ancestors, was of the Vistula (WistuĊa) River below Warsaw. We topped our tank water supply, $1 for 40L, plus brought another 15L from IGA, We visited a few Coober Pedy attractions: Big Winch 360, Old Timers Mine, Opal Jewellery (none purchased), Comfort Inn, Coober Pedy views, Coober Pedy Hill Sign and roamed the streets, just looking. Personally, having been raised in a small outback mining town, I had had enough and just wanted to be on my way.

From Deutsche Welle: As the euro dashes toward parity with the US dollar, currency traders say the slide is unlikely to stop there. While a weakened euro should worry European consumers, US travelers visiting Europe could benefit. The euro has taken a major beating against its US peer since Russias invasion of Ukraine in February, falling to its lowest level in 20 years as surging gas prices and u Read on...
Cusco has gone back into a tighter quarantine/lockdown. Transportation in and out of the city is again limited to supply chain necessities, which I appreciate because the selection of fresh fruit and vegetables hasnt changed.
I was woken up today by a call from my parents. My Dad had bought me a cake and put candles in it to celebrate today being my one year anniversary living in Cusco. It doesnt Read on...
The thought of backwater cruise, wildlife at national parks and carpet like tea plantation lured me to visit Kerala. Back in March 2018, I, my sister Nyta and my friend Kiko left Jakarta with Malaysian Airlines, transiting in Kuala Lumpur and arrived in the evening. Our driver, Jotish picked us up and took us to Cochin Marriott.
On the first day of our visit, we had a city tour, visiting Fort Koc Read on...
More sightseeing in Broken Hill today. We drove out to the Living Desert State Park where Cathy paid our fee at the PayBay. The payment was made for four people, but only produced one ticket. Hmmn, what to do when we are in two cars?? Cathy and Bernie had just decided to tear it in half when the ranger happened along. He agreed that sharing the ticket between the cars worked for him!

This is the first focal point if visitors climb up from Box Hill & Westhumble station. Peter labelliere was a well known Dorking resident for his eccentric personality. He was buried being upside down.
We caught the train from Waterloo and reached Box Hill and Westhumble station round the lunch time. There were several young people who seemed to head for Box Hill from the station. We remembered h Read on...
My condo was located on a side road called Soi Thanpuying Phahon off Ngamwongwan Road, which is a major artery running through the northern part of Bangkok. The nearby major intersection is with Phahon Yothin Road. Also known as Highway 1, Phahon Yothin goes all the way to the northern edge of Thailand and connects into Myanmar.
I to Bangkok with many specific sightseeing goals in mind. Rather, Read on...
Another good day although the track was very rocky and rough. These conditions mean you have to be careful with every step as its so easy to roll an ankle. As such its surprising how much more effort goes into such a day. The distance and elevation with previous days but the extra degree of concentration means today was considerably more tiring than previous days.
The landscape is changing here, Read on...
My latest adventure with Trekkup was a whirlwind weekend tour of Uzbekistan: Silk and Spice weekend. I had been trying to do this popular trip for over a year now (thanks Covid and Saudi!). I was a little mentally exhausted due to my busy busy work schedule, but I needed to do this one. Initially we only had 5 or 6 people sign up in our group; at first, I was bummed because this is supposed to be Read on...
