Hong Kong was the third stop on the 1963 trip. Arrival from Taipei was at the old Airport via Civil Air Transports Mandarin Jet.
The hotel was a fairly modern one in in Kowloon. I confess I made the mistake of ordering a hamburger for lunch. It was on the restaurant menu, but of course was nothing like an American hamburger. It was simply a meat patty in a bun. I recall a there was a terrific r Read on...
No alarm, well at least I didnt set one but Jerry did. Even without an alarm I still woke up at 6:00 am, but instead of getting up and looking forward to 9+ hours in front of working, I turned over petted Tarragon and went back to sleep. I didnt wake up again until Jerrys alarm went off at 8. I might have kept sleeping but for that alarm.

Ive just read the obituary of Hilton Valentine, lead guitarist with The Animals in 1964, the year they achieved musical immortality with their single ‘The House of the Rising Sun. Never a guitar hero, this relatively unknown man will, though, be remembered for the distinctive arpeggio chords which open that track. Per Winespeed: As most wine drinkers know, wine can taste pleasantly salty—even when theres no actual sodium chloride in it. Certain grape varieties, for example, can taste a bit salty (sangiovese is one), and wines made from grapes growing near a sea coast can, too. So maybe it was only a matter of time, but several winemakers in France and Portugal are now experimenting with adding salt to the Read on...
